About Marilyn

Dear Prospective Client…a little about me…

As a Professional Interior Designer and Member of the Connecticut Valley Chamber of Commerce, I focus primarily on residential and professional office design.  Since 2000 I have owned Marilyn Interiors of Glastonbury, an outgrowth of my earlier business, Design Expressions, in Avon.  Though I work mostly in Glastonbury and the Farmington Valley, I serve clients throughout Connecticut and beyond.  Some of my long-term clients have been with me for decades, and still seek my services even after relocating to other states.

Regardless of your interior design project, I will prove to be your best ally.  Your vision combined with my skills and versatility will bring many ideas to fruition.  Together we will create an inviting, memorable, and amazing living environment with timeless appeal.

If you are curious about how I got started in my career, please see my background below. Otherwise, feel free to skip to the other pages of this site.  Now that you know a little about who I am, I look forward to getting to know you and working together!

“My design philosophy is to achieve a comfortable, livable, aesthetically pleasing, and joyous environment that reflects my client’s vision.”

Marilyn’s Design Background

Marilyn’s passion has always been for the arts.  As a teenager she received a Greater Hartford Arts and Science Award for etchings and paintings and dreamt of creating elegant interiors.  After receiving her degree in Interior Design from Paier College of Art, Marilyn continued in-depth study of the field at the Toronto Art School.  Her early career was spent working for full custom design shops where many encouraged her to pursue her own business so she might better express her creativity.
Throughout her career Marilyn has enjoyed sharing her knowledge with those who seek a deeper understanding of design elements. After practicing as an Interior Designer for some years, she was invited to teach the subject at Middlesex Community College and the Ashton Art Institute. Marilyn’s work has been featured in Northeast Magazine and in several Junior Women’s League Showhouses in the Hartford Area.
Over the past 30 years Marilyn’s expertise has allowed her to foster close customer relationships, to develop lifelong friendships, and to grow her business primarily through referrals and networking.  She continues to work with many amazing clients, including rising young professionals as well as established homeowners and families.
