Caring Designer Who Can Address Any Challenge
“I worked with Marilyn on redecorating my living room and couldn’t be happier with the result. Although I had an idea of the type of furniture I was interested in, I could not have envisioned the end design. Marilyn’s effort was end to end, encompassing alternative room layouts, furniture selection and scale, fabric and wood stain choices, accent tables, and lighting fixtures. She started the project by finding a gorgeous area rug and built the rest of the color choices around that. Once all the pieces were in place, I asked her for ideas on dressing up a very tall, blank wall in the room. She worked up several options for me, providing lovely sketches to visualize them, and we went with staggered large panels made from beautiful fabrics that coordinate perfectly with the rug and furniture. I loved that it is an unusual treatment, was cost effective, and brought great color and warmth to the room.
A year or so later, I reached out to Marilyn again to help me with options for stair and hallway runners. Again, she brought numerous options, even delivering samples to my home, and helped me see possibilities that I wouldn’t have thought of. The completed runners coordinate beautifully with the colors in the adjoining rooms, tying them all together very nicely.
Marilyn has tremendous professional contacts that I have been able to leverage. For example, she put me in touch with an electrician that installed new light fixtures (one requiring scaffolding), a mover that helped relocate furniture between my first and second floors, and a drapery installer that hung the rods for my living room wall panels. In all cases, the individuals she referred were highly professional and did excellent work.
There are many things I appreciate about Marilyn. With her artful eye, great taste, high standard of quality, and deep experience, she does a fantastic job of pulling together beautiful options. She took the time to understand my tastes and lifestyle and worked within any parameters I provided, such as keeping existing window treatments or wall colors and needing dog-friendly runner materials. She is the utmost professional, with great attention to detail, customer focus, and follow through to completion. She didn’t end her engagement with my selection of the runner material – she stayed in touch throughout the process while the runners were being made and installed. Marilyn is a caring person and a pleasure to work with, and it has been wonderful getting to know each other through our projects.
